WNYT: ‘Girls on the Run’ 5K Race gathered more than 800 participants this weekend
Hundreds of young girls ran out of their comfort zone this weekend, in a fun, healthy way.
The 10th annual “Girls on the Run” 5K was held at Joe Bruno Stadium on Saturday.
More than 800 girls from third through eighth grade took part in the race. Watch here.
WRGB: Morning Announcement Makeover at Academy of Holy Names
The morning announcements at Albany’s Academy of Holy Names has been given a makeover. Once heard only over the loud speaker, they’re now livestreamed into every classroom and anchored by students themselves. The broadcast is appropriately called ‘Panthervision’ after the school’s mascot. Watch here.

WTEN: Tulip Queen Finalists Announced
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced the five finalists for 2024’s Tulip Queen on Friday. The winner will be crowned at the Albany Tulip Festival on May 11 at noon by Mayor Sheehan and 2023 Tulip Queen Olivia Owens on the Lakehouse Stage. Read more here.

Ryleigh Hotaling, who spends her time at the Ronald McDonald House, shared her aspirations, saying, “I see a lot of the community especially young children who I hope to impact when I see and visit them.” Read more here.
WAMC: Tulip Court is announced for Albany’s Tulip Fest
The five finalists for Albany’s Tulip Court were introduced Friday.
With tulips in full bloom on a summerlike Friday, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan introduced the finalists at the Moses statue in Washington Park as a preview to the city’s signature event, taking place on Mother’s Day weekend. Read more here.
Academy of the Holy Names Board of Trustees Names Co-Chairs
Dr. Martin Kilbridge, President of Academy of the Holy Names, announced today the Board of Trustees has named new co-chairs of the Board – both Holy Names alumnae — Lissa McNaughton ’77 P ’22 and Maryann McCarthy ’88 P ’19. Both trustees have been life-long residents of the Capital Region and board members since 2017. The co-chairs will begin their service in July. They will succeed Chris Edwards P ’14 who has served as chair since 2019.
All the Right Moves: Claire Jacob-Zysman Joins AHN as Counselor, Dance Instructor
Claire Jacob-Zysman is a new addition to Academy of the Holy Names, and she arrives as a dual-threat: she’s AHN’s new School Counselor, and beginning in the fall, she’ll be teaching dance.
“I have been dancing since I was seven years old. I studied dance in college and moved on to dance professionally after college. During that time, I fell in love with teaching dance and spreading the joy, creativity, and discipline of dance to students. My dance teaching philosophy is that everyone is a dancer, and that dance can be used as a tool to build self-confidence, create connections, and be an outlet for self-expression. I use dance to empower the students to feel confident in their moving bodies and to express their emotions through the art of dance.”
