Part-time seasonal (March-June) opening for an Outdoor Track and Field Head Coach at Academy of the Holy Names (Albany, NY), the Capital Region’s only all-girls, private, Catholic, college-preparatory school for grades 6-12. Candidates must have experience coaching or participating in running sports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and develop fundamental running skills including motions and technique
- Develop and implement an appropriate cardiovascular aerobic conditioning regimen which is differentiated between sprinters, mid-distance, and distance athletes as well as field athletes.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all athletes
- Emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence-building
- Plan and lead organized, productive practices
- Ensure athlete safety at all times and follow all school guidelines
- Ensure athlete safety at all times and follow all League, Section, and NYSPHSAA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with athletes, families, and school staff
- Conduct correct entries to meets and competitions
- Attend all practices and all competitions
- Work with the Athletic Director on the issues of transportation, entries, compliance, and regulations.
- Work with the Athletic Director to ensure field and equipment safety as well as manage uniforms
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
Qualifications:
- Running experience (coaching or participation) required
- Strong knowledge of skill progressions and proper technique
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
- Ability to motivate and connect with middle/high school athletes
- Organized, reliable, and energetic
