The mission of 15-Love is “to reach out to youth in the Capital Region in a loving and caring way, using tennis as a means of connection—especially for those in inner-city communities.” Meara, a passionate tennis player, was drawn to the organization because it uses the sport to build relationships, support families, and strengthen communities. To support this mission, Samantha and Meara organized a tennis tournament. They planned the event, invited coaches and teams, and welcomed participants from the organization as well as members of the broader community. In addition to collecting entry fees, they raised funds through the sale of concessions and t-shirts. The event raised over $1,300, which they donated to 15-Love. They also promoted their efforts by creating a bulletin board and posting flyers throughout their school to raise awareness.
