The purpose of Ella and Alysia’s project was twofold: 1) To raise awareness of breast health and the symptoms & signs of breast cancer, and 2) To fundraise for the Foundation. They created a pink environment throughout the school to honor Breast Cancer awareness month in October. They raised awareness by creating a bulletin board, creating an interactive display on the front lobby windows, posting flyers, and submitting announcements for Panther Vision. Their fundraising event was a ‘Dig Pink’ volleyball game on October 21st.  Through entry fees, raffle baskets, and a concession stand they were able to raise $2,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Additionally, they spent an afternoon in November at Circles boutique in Stuyvesant Plaza handing out pamphlets and

speaking to people about breast cancer. They raised an additional $200. The foundation uses donations to further their research and to assist women who cannot afford adequate medical testing and treatment.
