At the heart of every great service project lies passion, dedication, and a desire to make a difference. For Reagan Dunham, a senior at Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, NY, these qualities led her to create Hearts and Happiness, a special event for an Outreach Program visit at The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. Dealing with adverse situations and thriving is something Holy Names girls’ basketball coach Steve Gigliello wanted to see from his team during the fourth quarter Friday night. The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step, and for Joan Lipscomb, there was no doubt as to where she would lace up her shoes and begin that journey.
“When people would ask me where I was going after grammar school, I would say CBA because my three brothers attended there. Once I understood why that wasn’t an option, Holy Names was always the only choice,” Lipscomb says.
