The late scientist Dr. Carl Sagan once said, “you have to know the past to understand the present.”
That’s the drive that’s kept the story of Academy of the Holy Names – in all its iterations – alive, and it’s been a passion project for Holy Names Archives Coordinator Mary Ellen Scally Conboy ’61, and Dick Kernan, a former 39-year IT employee of Albany Medical Center.

I want to take this opportunity to share with you progress we are making on developing the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. Natalia Fernandez has been teaching English and Spanish as a second language in Argentina since she graduated from the Universidad del Salvador in Argentina in 2002. A native Argentinian, Profesora Fernández is working to receive her master’s in education studies at the University at Albany. AHN’s newest Spanish Teacher wants her students to know that while learning a new language takes time and effort, especially when being taught by a native speaker, practice makes perfect!
