Academy of the Holy Names took a break from academics on March 5, as students, faculty and staff spent the day volunteering at more than 20 different service organizations around the Capital District. The Day of Service demonstrated the dedication of the entire Holy Names community to serve the marginalized, poor and disadvantaged in the Capital District. The Evangelist: Funding the Future

The first annual grant presentation of the Father Kenneth J. Doyle Catholic Education Fund was held on Tuesday, March 3, at St. Mary’s, Crescent in Waterford.

The morning ceremony was attended by Bishop Mark O’Connell, Catholic schools leaders, school grant recipients, and friends and family of the beloved late Father Doyle.

St. Mary’s School in Waterford, Saratoga Central Catholic School and Academy of the Holy Names in Albany were presented with checks to put toward each school’s individual needs. Read more here.

WTEN: Albany Academy, Holy Names advance to Class A championship game

TROY, NY (NEWS10) — The Albany Academy and Holy Names girls basketball teams met in the Class A semifinal last season, with Academy winning 53-43 on the way to their third straight section championship. This year, the two teams will meet in the Class A title game.

Holy Names held off Glens Falls 69-59 behind a dominant effort from Maggie Volmer. The junior tallied a triple-double with 17 points, 11 blocks and 11 rebounds. “It means literally everything,” said Volmer. “We all work so hard in practice and we talk about getting on top every single day.
