TU: Holy Names beats Voorheesville for girls’ basketball coach Steve Gigliello’s 300th win
Dealing with adverse situations and thriving is something Holy Names girls’ basketball coach Steve Gigliello wanted to see from his team during the fourth quarter Friday night. His Panthers flourished after having fallen behind against Voorheesville and produced a 51-45 victory in a Colonial Council clash between a pair of state-ranked squads. Read more here.

The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step, and for Joan Lipscomb, there was no doubt as to where she would lace up her shoes and begin that journey.
“When people would ask me where I was going after grammar school, I would say CBA because my three brothers attended there. Once I understood why that wasn’t an option, Holy Names was always the only choice,” Lipscomb says.

The Evangelist: AHN mourns loss of teacher, coach
Carlo Cherubino, a beloved coach and teacher at the Academy of the Holy Names, died Nov. 14 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, after a brief illness.
“Carlo was a gifted educator and coach who inspired and nurtured our school community in countless ways,” said Dr. Martin Kilbridge, president of Holy Names. “He embodied the high standards and sincere devotion to forming strong young women we hold dear at Holy Names. His spirit will live on in our hearts.”

That’s how long-time Colonie High coach Frank Myers described Carlo Cherubino, who had coached track and field, cross country and soccer at Academy of Holy Names for decades before he died at the age of 71 last Thursday after a brief illness. Read more here.

Holy Names Inspires Alumna to Life of Service
Service, a charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, is more than just a word at Academy of the Holy Names. It’s a way of life.
For a natural go-getter like MJ Naughton ’03, it’s a means of inspiration. “During my senior year at Holy Names, when required to complete 100 hours of community service I was determined to do so well ahead of time. I achieved about 180 hours of local service and received an award for Service and Leadership that year.”
